Residential / Tertiary

Residential buildings represent, in many respects, the foundation and ultimate expression of an acoustic consultancy’s expertise. Acoustic quality in housing is a fundamental aspect of building design and has been addressed by French regulations since 1969.
This concern has long been a major societal issue, and more recent surveys consistently demonstrate the high expectations of residents regarding the acoustic comfort of their homes. The acoustic quality of residential environments is essential for sleep, rest, well-being, and overall quality of life.
A significant proportion of existing housing stock continues to suffer from inadequate acoustic performance, sometimes to an extent that may adversely affect occupants’ health. Even today, new developments are too often delivered with major acoustic shortcomings. Effective technical solutions must therefore be carefully assessed and designed from the earliest project stages.
Construction-phase monitoring is essential to ensure the correct implementation of these acoustic solutions, while final acoustic measurements provide a reliable means of verifying compliance with the project’s performance objectives. This is reflected in the latest regulatory requirement introduced in France in 2013: the mandatory acoustic compliance certificate for residential buildings.
